A majority of the new spending in the bill goes directly toward repairing the country's
aging transportation system. The White House has said that 173,000 total miles of
America’s highways and major roads and 45,000 bridges are in poor condition.
The bill also includes a substantial investment in bridges – the Biden team said the $40
billion set aside in new funds for bridge repair, replacement and rehabilitation is the
single largest dedicated investment since the construction of the interstate highway

Vacaville council to discuss affordable housing, use of pandemic relief funds

VACAVILLE — The City Council on Tuesday will discuss affordable housing and infrastructure issues that face the city. Council members will also open discussion into how to apply federal pandemic relief funds.

In response to recent legislation regarding the posing of campaign reporting statements and local jurisdiction’s switch to electronic filings in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Vacaville City Council will consider amending city code to require paperless filings of campaign disclosure statements at its Tuesday meeting.
According to a staff report by City Clerk Michelle Thornbrugh, the item is in response to Assembly Bill 571 by Assemblyman Kevin Mullin, D-Daly City, which went into effect Jan. 1. Among other things, the legislation requires Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) election reporting statements to be posted on jurisdictions’ websites within 72 hours of each applicable filing deadline.[...read more]
