Liar, Liar, State’s on Fire

On Gavin Newsom’s very first day in office, he signed an executive order, committing to overhauling California’s approach to wildfires, noting it “fundamentally has to change.” But instead, we got big talk, big lies and not nearly enough action:

It turns out, of the 90,000 acres Newsom claimed received fire prevention work as part of his 35 “priority projects” he allegedly completed, the state’s data shows it was actually only 11,399 acres, or about 13% of what he touted.

On top of that, in 2020, Newsom slashed $150 million in funding for Cal Fire’s wildfire prevention.
And where is Newsom to take responsibility for his lies and explain his failures in wildfire prevention? Nowhere to be found:

Newsom’s silence is particularly deafening when less than a week ago, he said he would take responsibility for everything in California:

BOTTOM LINE: Gavin Newsom lied. He seems to have tried to put a positive spin on his massive failures by touting bogus accomplishments, and now he’s hiding when the truth comes to light. California could face its worst fire season ever and needs real leadership to handle it. Unfortunately, Gavin Newsom has proven once again that his image and keeping his job matter more to him than Californians do.
