Dixon residents will be heading to the polls this fall, and it won’t just be for the gubernatorial recall.

In a special election on Nov. 2, Dixonites will be choosing one of their own to serve as city clerk. For the first time in more than 70 years, the position will be elected rather than appointed. Residents who opt to vote by mail should expect to see their ballots as early as September.

The election comes almost one year after Dixon voters approved Measure T to make the city clerk an elected position. This vote now means six of the seven Solano County cities have elected city clerks, with only Rio Vista still filling the city clerk position through appointment.
