Frazier resigns from state Assembly; Suisun City mayor announces bid for open seat.

FAIRFIELD — Assemblyman Jim Frazier announced Wednesday he is resigning as the representative of the 11th District, effective Dec. 31.

Frazier said he is seeking new opportunities in the field of transportation, according to the resignation letter he posted on his official Facebook page. His office said he was not available for any additional comment at this time.

“This is the best job I have ever had,” Frazier, D-Fairfield, said in the letter. “I have enjoyed serving the state of California and the 11th Assembly District and greatly appreciate the confidence that my constituents have shown in over the last nine years.”

Suisun City Mayor Lori Wilson said Wednesday she will run for the soon-to-be vacant seat. Wilson said Frazier contacted her, but would not say when the conversation took place.

Wilson anticipates there will be a special election, but said that it is up to the governor’s office.

Michelle Heppner, the census redistricting point person for the Solano County administration, said it is still unclear whose district Solano County will be in when the final decision is made in January.
